Culture and history

Frejštejn is a well-preserved castle ruin. It was founded in the mid-13th century and ceased to exist in the second half of the 15th century. An excursion route of the National Heritage Institute leads through Podhradí nad Dyjí; visitors can see the Frejštejn castle ruin there.

Podhradí nad Dyjí is also home to a station of Kristkova podyjská glyptotéka. The glyptotheque consists of 11 sculptures by Lubo Kristek, created in the 1990s.

Practical information

A marked Czech-Austrian cross-border cycling route passes through Podhradí nad Dyjí. The bridge over the Dyje will be closed for reconstruction from September 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027.
