Culture and History
The Muzeum a Památník města presents the history of Velké Opatovice, local historical collections and the Herberstein family’s historical library.
The Velké Opatovice chateau was built in the Baroque style in 1757.
The Church of St George in Velké Opatovice was first mentioned in writing in 1392. It was built in 1790–1791, replacing a Gothic church that had been remodelled in the Baroque style in the second half of the 14th century. A relief of St George, created by Karel Otáhal in 1951, is located on the wall behind the altar.
One admission ticket entitles you to enter both the Moravské kartografické centrum and the Památník města.
Nature and Leisure
The Hanýsek educational trail begins at Šraňky in Velké Opatovice and runs along field and forest paths. Nine information panels provide information about natural attractions in the northern part of the Blansko District.
