In Maleč, the “Za hejkaly do Železných hor a na zámek Maleč” trail, Maleč Castle and an open-air geology exhibition come together. The trail leads around Maleč Castle through a landscape with old trees along the Doubrava River. Its shorter version can be traversed with an all-terrain stroller and by bicycle; the Maleč Trail also includes a sheep bridge and an opportunity to search for fossils.
Geology
The open-air geology exhibition in Maleč displays rocks from the surrounding area and from the Železné hory National Geopark. It is freely accessible and features an information board and a worksheet with seven questions.
Culture and History
The Protestant church in Maleč was built from 1891 to 1894 in the Neo-Renaissance style with a tower and was ceremonially opened on 28 June 1896.
Maleč lies along the historic Libická Trail. Maleč Castle is presented as a memorial to F. L. Rieger and F. Palacký; František Palacký spent the last 14 years of his life there.
The exhibition at Maleč Castle includes restored interiors with original furnishings as well as the preserved studies of F. Palacký.
On the village square in Maleč, Baroque statues of the Virgin Mary and Saint John of Nepomuk form a group together with a cross and a wooden belfry. This group of statues includes a sandstone statue of the Virgin Mary dated 1685 and a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from 1707.
