Havlíčkův Brod District: Hotels and accommodation

The Havlíčkův Brod region is one of five destination areas of Vysočina Tourism. In this landscape, wooded hills meet rocky, romantic valleys where the Železné Mountains reach the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. Culture and history

Lipnice Castle was founded around 1310 and is open to visitors. It features an archaeological exhibition as well as extensive cellars containing the former banquet hall of Jindřich z Lipé. Lipnice nad Sázavou Castle is also associated with the writer Jaroslav Hašek. The Lipnický Poesiomat near Jaroslav Hašek’s grave presents material about Hašek, Wolker and castle legends.

Ledeč Castle stands on a limestone spur above the Sázava River and is an important landmark in the Havlíčkův Brod region. It houses the Town Museum, with exhibitions on the history of the town and regional crafts. The craft traditions presented there include pottery, glassmaking, weaving and dyeing; there is also a permanent exhibition of historical clocks. Visitors can climb 111 steps to the 32-metre-high tower and look out over the Sázava Valley from there.

Huť Jakub Tasice began operations in 1796. The complex preserves an exceptionally well-preserved open-air museum of glassmaking. Since 2014, it has been a Czech national cultural monument.

Getting around and travel

The tourist information centre in Havlíčkův Brod features an interactive historical exhibition centred around a city model, showing the development of the town and its main sights. Havlíčkův Brod is a national road and railway hub with national rail connections.

Rebel is a traditional beer from Havlíčkův Brod and is served with seasonal and regional specialities.
