Babushara: Hotels and Accommodations

Culture and History

A medieval church in Babushara is listed in the Georgian Register of Immovable Cultural Heritage. The village church of Babushara is in a severely deteriorated structural condition and urgently requires conservation measures; its current condition cannot be assessed because the area is occupied. For the same reason, it is also impossible to assess the present condition of the Tskaba Tower, a late medieval tower from the 16th and 17th centuries in Babushara.

Another historical site in Babushara is the Babushera Tower. It dates from the 16th to the 18th century and has survived in a severely damaged condition; the walls are only approximately three meters high. The circular structure features visible loopholes and clay pipes.

In the approximate surrounding area of Babushara are the Krepost’ Kelasurskaya Fortress, Golova Atara Cave, Gora Anykhapaara Mountain, and Cape Kodori. The wider regional vicinity of Babushara also includes Kelasuri Cave, the Razvaliny Peperanto ruins, Sokhumi Cathedral, and the Aryuta ruins.
