Culture

A new church was built on elevated ground in Ts’iplovana. Ts’iplovana is also home to the men’s monastery “Nativity of the Mother of God”. Nearby points of interest around Ts’iplovana include the Ortubani Nunnery Monastery and the Schio-Mgwime Church of Sarkineti.

The Dzama Valley contains up to 60 historical monuments, including churches, monasteries, fortresses, towers, and natural attractions. In Gverdzineti, two preserved towers stand on opposite banks of the Dzama River; they guarded the lower part of the valley. The Kozipa monastic complex has five churches built between the 7th and 16th centuries.

Landscape

Ts’iplovana is connected by road to the Gverdzineti–Tkemlovana road section in the Dzama Valley. The Tkemlovanistskali River Gorge is a side gorge of the Dzama and is known for its mineral waters. A 25-meter-high waterfall lies in the Dzama Valley near Mount Abukhalo. The Abukhalo footpath leads to the summit of Bardzimjvari, offering views across the Kartli region.

Lake Bateṭi is listed among the points of interest near Ts’iplovana. Shida Kartli has mountain ranges, forests, fields, waterfalls, and lakes.

Regional Food and Wine

In the wider Shida Kartli region, sweet Nazuki bread can be sampled on the way to Surami. Kartli’s wines include Goruli Mtsvane, Shavkapito, Chinuri, and Tavkveri.

The Shatberdi St Catherine’s men’s monastery stands beside the road leading toward the Dzama Valley.
