Discover Börgönd: Chapel, Water and Excursion Destinations

The Páduai Szent Antal Chapel has a single-nave layout with a main nave and a façade structured by pilasters, meaning flat wall projections. It was built in 1920 in memory of Countess Alice Esterházy, the wife of Antal Cziráky. The chapel has local historical and architectural heritage value. A single-nave layout refers to a spatial form with a central main nave; pilasters structure the façade surface without being freestanding columns. The chapel can therefore be considered in terms of its interior and façade design as two different architectural features.

Celtic, Roman and Late Avar graves were excavated in Börgönd. The three designations refer to different historical periods. For those interested in culture, this means archaeological finds stand alongside a building from 1920. The 1920 chapel dates from after the Celtic, Roman and Late Avar grave finds.

Next to the chapel stands the community oven built by local residents. Today it serves as a venue for Börgöndi Mulatságok and other community events. Its use differs from the chapel’s commemorative function: Börgöndi Mulatságok and other community events take place here.

The Börgöndpusztai Horgászparadies- és Freizeitpark is located on the eastern edge of Börgöndpuszta, near the Dinnyési Fertő wetland. The park therefore combines a clear edge location with proximity to a water-dominated landscape. The park is the recreational area, while Dinnyési Fertő is the wetland near it. The two references are therefore not interchangeable for spatial orientation. At the park, the eastern edge of Börgöndpuszta and the proximity to Dinnyési Fertő mark two different spatial reference points.

The Börgöndpusztai Horgászparadies- és Freizeitpark had accommodation in wooden houses, tent pitches and sanitary facilities. There was also a shelter by the water and fishing piers. The former facilities therefore covered several forms of stay: wooden houses and tent pitches for overnight accommodation, sanitary facilities, and facilities close to the water. The shelter and fishing piers added specific areas directly by the water to the park. The former facilities thus ranged from wooden houses and tent pitches to sanitary facilities, a shelter by the water and fishing piers.

At the Börgöndpusztai Állatsimogató, visitors can get to know and experience almost 40 animal species. The nearly 40 animal species belong to the Állatsimogató.

Börgönd Airport is also part of the local range of topics. It is located near Börgönd and has been used in recent years for powered and glider flying, hang-gliding, parachute jumps, and sport and recreational flights. Training in powered and glider flying was also possible there. Powered and glider flying therefore served both as types of flight activity and as training. Hang-gliding and parachute jumps supplemented the former air sports activities, while sport and recreational flights represented another area of use for the airfield.
