Culture and History

Accordingly, the town’s two “Olympic oaks” were planted by Kabos Endre in 1936 and by Bujdosó Imre, respectively. Before nationalization, the cinema on Szent István Square belonged to the father of film director Károly Makk. The former Konrád hardware store was located at 11 Dózsa György út, and György Konrád drew on his experiences with the town in several novels.

Getting There

Berettyóújfalu can be reached by road by turning from Road 4 onto Road 42 at Püspökladány; the town lies beyond Földes. The town can also be reached via the Püspökladány–Biharkeresztes railway line.
