Kisköre combines nature watching and on-the-water experiences with opportunities for longer cycling tours. When planning your trip, the main things to consider are whether you would like to discover the ecological fish corridor, take a guided boat tour or cycle around Lake Tisza.

  • Built in 2014, the Kiskörei Hallépcső is 1,371 metres long and connects Lake Tisza with the stretch of river below the dam.
  • The boat-shaped Lábasház lookout tower is 19 metres high; from there, you can see parts of the Abádszalók Basin and the Kisköre water barrage.

  • Cycling routes of 67 or 95 kilometres are possible from the rental centre at Ring-a-tó Beach.

What makes the Hallépcső special?

The Hallépcső is an ecological fish corridor and is considered the largest of its kind in Europe. It serves as a natural passage for the fish that live in these waters.

There is also a monitoring room at the Hallépcső, where the movements of the fish can be observed. Nature and wildlife enthusiasts can therefore do more here than simply view the structure: they can also observe the fish. The Hallépcső was built in 2014.

What water-based experiences are available?

Guided boat tours depart from Kisköre’s harbour. If you want to experience Lake Tisza from the water, this offers a different way to explore than cycling. The departure point specified is the harbour in Kisköre; the tours are guided.

Kayaks, canoes, SUPs and bicycles are available to rent at Ring-a-tó Kisköre Beach and Apartment Park. At the beach there, a tree-lined stretch of shore more than 200 metres long lies directly alongside the living Tisza. The rental options mentioned thus include both various types of watercraft and bicycles. Depending on your interests, you can choose whether you prefer a guided boat tour or would rather set off on your own in one of the available vehicles.

What can the lookout and cycling routes help you plan?

From the 19-metre-high, boat-shaped Lábasház lookout tower, you can see parts of the Abádszalók Basin and the Kisköre water barrage. The view can thus be linked specifically to two named sights; it is not described as a complete panorama. Near the destination, a 85 × 12 metre ship lock at the Kisköre water barrage allows large ships and barges to pass through.

You can cycle all the way around Lake Tisza. From the rental centre at Ring-a-tó Beach, you can choose a shorter route of 67 kilometres or a longer one of 95 kilometres. The two route lengths offer a specific choice based on your planned distance. If you would like to compare Kisköre with other places, you can also find pages here for Tiszanána, Heves and Pély.
