Horány combines several specific travel references: Danube crossings, the seasonally operated Horányi Beach and the weekly Horányi Piac. Mountains in the surrounding area, as well as museums and a castle in the wider regional surroundings, complement the local connection. Local history and a gastronomic program also lead to Szigetmonostor.

Danube Crossings and Means of Transport

In the wider Szigetmonostor–Horány area, there are four options for crossing the Danube. These include a car ferry between Horány and Dunakeszi, as well as a passenger and bicycle ferry between Horány and Alsógöd. A ferry operates on the Dunakeszi–Horány connection. The connections therefore differ by destination and means of transport. For a route across the Danube, the car ferry to Dunakeszi and the passenger and bicycle ferry to Alsógöd must be considered separately.

Mountains in the Surrounding Area

Baglyas-hegy, Kapitány-hegy, Szent László-hegy and Lom-hegy are mountains in the vicinity of Horány. The four mountains represent a landscape theme alongside the ferry connections in the Szigetmonostor–Horány area. Their geographical classification belongs to the surroundings of Horány and not to the wider regional cultural environment.

Beach Operations and Weekly Market

Horányi Beach was officially open from June 1 to August 31, 2026. Beach operations therefore had a fixed start and end date within the summer months in 2026.

The Horányi Piac takes place every Sunday from 09:00 to 14:00. The market thus establishes a recurring Sunday appointment with a time window limited to five hours. Beach operations and the market consequently represent different calendar references: a dated period and a weekly time slot.

Gastronomy in Szigetmonostor

The Szigetmonostori Lecsófőző Verseny is an annual tradition that has existed since 2009. It was held as a community-building gastronomic program at Horányi Piac tér in Szigetmonostor. The venue is located in Szigetmonostor. Together with the Sunday market, the annual tradition gives the place a gastronomic connection and complements the ferry and beach themes with an occasion for visitors interested in regional cuisine in Horány and Szigetmonostor on site. In annual planning, this tradition stands alongside the Sunday Horányi Piac as a different temporal rhythm.

History of the Telep

The exhibition of the Meteor TTE Horány Erdei Telep Múzeuma presented the history of the Telep, its community life and its material culture.

Museums and Castle in the Wider Regional Area

The Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest is a museum in the wider regional surroundings of Horány. The Néprajzi Museum is also a museum in the wider regional surroundings of Horány. The Budapest History Museum is located there as well. Buda Castle is a castle in the wider regional surroundings of Horány. In addition to the exhibition of the Meteor TTE Horány Erdei Telep Múzeuma, three museums and one castle are therefore part of the regional cultural references outside the immediate Telep theme.
