In Balatonőszöd, an area of about 20 hectares that was previously used for agriculture has been flooded over the past ten years and has become a new habitat for aquatic animals. This change adds a natural feature to the shore area, distinct from the town’s historic buildings.
The Reformed Church was rebuilt between 1845 and 1847; much of its original interior furnishings have been preserved. The Mária Chapel was built in 1935 at the initiative of the Balatonőszöd Bathing Association, based on plans by Károly Weichinger. The Szent-Donát Memorial is also located in the vineyards; it is a work by craftsman Rudolf Szedleczky. Its relief depicts the saint with a bunch of grapes and a wine ladle.
The Neoclassical Tiszttartó House came into the possession of the Piarists around 1810 and has served as the residence of the estate manager ever since. The Jewish cemetery is at the end of Szabadság utca, consists of two sections and contains notable 19th-century gravestones. The listed granary dates from the second half of the 18th century and was built in the Baroque style. It is now in poor condition and can be reached from József-Attila Street. The Öreg-hegyi rest area was inaugurated on August 20, 2011; its creation was prompted by a suggestion from local winegrowers.
