Dzhangi-Dzhol: Hotels and Accommodations

Nature

The Sary-Chelek Biosphere Reserve is located in western Kyrgyzstan and is a protected mountain basin in the western Tien Shan. Lake Sary-Chelek lies at an elevation of around 2,000 meters; the elevations within the reserve range from 1,200 to 4,247 meters. Its habitats include forests, meadows, steppes, rocks, scree slopes, and aquatic areas.

In the Jangy-Jol area, Mal-Kaldy is a lake fed by numerous springs. Several springs are located along its shore. The residents of Jangy-Jol village drink from the springs at Mal-Kaldy rather than from the lake itself.

Culture

Kara-Jygach has been identified as a sacred site in the Jangy-Jol area. Pilgrims perform sacrificial rituals and recite verses from the Quran there. Cooking utensils and a cauldron are available for pilgrims at Kara-Jygach.

In the village of Jangy-Jol in Jalal-Abad Province, dried herbs are chopped and stored in cloth bags for up to a year. Local herbal knowledge also includes collecting herbs before sunrise and drying them in the shade. Walnut burls are used there to make fine furniture.

History

A cultural center in the village of Jangy-Jol in Aksy District was planned with seating for 400 spectators, an area of 857 square meters, and modern technical equipment. Construction began in 2022, and commissioning was planned for the near future. Tash-Kömür District was renamed Jangy-Jol District in 1943.

Local Produce

Walnut trees, as well as cherries, apples, apricots, pistachios, and hawthorns, grow in the Jangy-Jol area. The residents of Jangy-Jol village collect large quantities of walnuts. Walnuts can be pressed into oil in the area, which is used for cooking.
