Kok - Dzhar: The Joon-Aryk River is recorded in the southern part of Kokdzhar. Those wishing to book a hotel in Kok - Dzhar can then continue their search for accommodation.

The Joon-Aryk River is also located on the eastern side of Kokdzhar. A flood of the river near Kokdzhar destroyed three dams and damaged part of the Kochkor–Chaek Road.

Geographical Setting

The Kochkor–Chaek Road runs north of the Joon-Aryk River near Kokdzhar. A local road leads from this road towards the Korocekh area. Kochkor District is part of Naryn Region, the wider regional area to which Kokdzhar belongs.

Local Life

Kokdzhar has a potato storage facility connected with local potato growers. In Kochkor, a Community Based Tourism center is used to organize jeeps, horses, and overnight stays in yurts for Song-Kul.

Women's cooperatives in Kochkor produce Shyrdak patchwork and rolled felt carpets of the Ala-Kiyiz type.

Culture and History

A statue of Kyrgyz statesman Turdakun Usubaliev was unveiled at a school in Kokdzhar in October 2018. Ulanbek Egizbaev was buried in Kokdzhar, the village where he was born and grew up.

The name Kök-Jar is associated with terms for blue or green as well as for a gorge, cliff, or steep slope.
