Madliena is home to a monument to the sons of the Madliena parish who fell in the First World War and in the Latvian Wars of Independence. The Vadoņa Birch Grove was established in 1936 near the parish school by the pupils of the parish school. Madliena is also home to the Latvijas pagastu ozolu birzs, which was planted with 453 oak saplings. These three facts alone illustrate different forms of connection to the area: remembrance, community involvement and a deliberately planted oak grove.

The local history museum “Bet tā bija!” is located in the surrounding area of Madliena. It is housed in a former primary school building constructed in 1868. The building itself is therefore part of the museum’s historical context. In addition, the local history museum offers guided tours of Madliena’s sights. This gives visitors access to more than just a description of a single exhibition venue; it also incorporates the area’s sights into a guided presentation.

The Latvijas pagastu ozolu birzs has a network of paved and gravel-surfaced paths. The design symbolically evokes tree roots and continues in a tree trunk with seven acorn-shaped surfaces. The site is therefore characterised not only by its planting. The paths and designed elements are also among its described features, giving the grounds a clearly recognisable symbolic form.

At the Madlienas pagasta svētki 2026, a procession travelled from the “Otrās mājas” association to the Madliena open-air stage. This event complements the permanent memorial, museum and landscape sites described above with a specific cultural occasion from 2026.
