Geographical setting
Vilnius District Municipality is located in southeastern Lithuania, in Vilnius County, and borders Belarus to the east.
The municipality encompasses the Neris, several tributaries and smaller rivers, and 36 lakes of national significance, including Lakes Riešė, Širvys and Ilgutis.
