Sutomore: Hotels and Accommodations

Beach

Along Sutomore Beach, there are restaurants, cafés, fast-food establishments, and souvenir shops. Entertainment is offered on Sutomore Beach and in the surrounding restaurants. The beach is described as organized and having clean water. During the season, a tourist information office is also open in Sutomore.

Culture and History

Sutomore is associated with an early history of tourism and has an architectural character shaped by palaces made of stone and wrought iron. Haj-Nehaj stands on a hill above the sea at an elevation of 225 meters. The remains of a medieval town built in the 15th century are located there. Haj-Nehaj was first mentioned in 1542 and was built by the Venetians for defense.

The Church of St. Thecla is located west of Sutomore, one kilometer from the sea, and was built in the 14th century. It has an Orthodox altar and a Catholic altar. In front of the church is a cemetery for members of both faiths. Near Sutomore, the remains of the Church of St. Roch also date back to the 14th century. The remains of the Benedictine Monastery of the Virgin Mary of Ratac date back to the 11th century and are located on the shore at the end of Ratac Cape between Bar and Sutomore.

Nature and Trails

Near Sutomore lies Štrbine, a 100-meter-long pebble beach. Ratac Beach is a nudist beach at Ratac Cape between Sutomore and Bar. The Sutorman viewpoint offers hiking, walks, and panoramic views. In addition, an easy 2.7-kilometer circular route leads from Sutomore to Haj-Nehaj Fortress.

Transport and Accommodation

The wider Bar-Sutomore area is connected to Podgorica, Bar, and the Port of Bar by main roads and railway. Sutomore offers hotels and private accommodations, as well as access to nearby natural and cultural sites such as the Brca community.
