Žabljak: Hotels and Accommodations

Nature

Black Lake is the largest and most attractive of Durmitor’s 18 glacial lakes and is located 2 km from Žabljak. Žabljak has hiking trails ranging from gentle family walks to challenging mountain ascents through the peaks, forests, meadows, and lakes of Durmitor. Durmitor has 27 marked and 12 unmarked trails. The Planinica Peak Loop begins in Žabljak and leads through wooded terrain to Zminje Lake.

Getting Around

The Durmitor Ring panoramic road begins in the center of Žabljak. It is marked in both directions with brown signs labeled “Panoramic Roads” and bearing the number 2.

Winter

The Savin Kuk ski resort has 4.6 kilometers of slopes, including blue, red, black, and children’s slopes. It offers a ski service, a ski school, restaurants, and a coffee bar. Near the sports center in Žabljak, a marked cross-country ski trail follows a circular route through a landscaped forest belt and back into the town. The sports center in Žabljak offers ski rental and access to licensed ski instructors.

History

The “Church of the Holy Transfiguration” is described as the only historic building that survived the destruction during the war; it was built in 1862.
