The parish church of Ostrzeszów was founded in 1353. Its nave was added in 1360; after earlier destruction, the church was rebuilt in 1721–1723. The Ostrzeszów Hills, with hiking and cycling routes as well as the “Pieczyska” and “Jodły Ostrzeszowskie” nature reserves, are located within the parish.

The attractions range from museums and historic works of art to marked cycling and nature trails. Ostrzeszów also has a supervised bathing area and the Oceanik indoor swimming pool. You can therefore consider culture, outdoor activities and swimming as different priorities when planning your trip.

In the parish church of Ostrzeszów, you will find frescoes donated by townspeople from the 14th to the 19th century, as well as Baroque altars and a copy of Murillo’s “Assumption of the Virgin”. In the chancel arch are limewood figures that are believed to have been attributed to Albrecht Dürer. The church’s long history can be traced through its various building phases: the nave was added after the church was founded, and the building was later rebuilt.

The church and monastery complex of the Sisters of Nazareth houses a museum about the presence of the Bernardines and the history of the Sisters of Nazareth. There is also a temporary exhibition about the Sisters of Nazareth in Grodno, as well as accessible former burial crypts. Visits are possible on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:00, 2:00 or 3:00 p.m., and on Sundays at 2:00 or 3:00 p.m.

Another museum to visit is the Władysław Golus Regional Museum, located in the Ostrzeszów town hall at Rynek 19. Its permanent exhibitions cover Norwegian officers at Oflag XXI C, the work of Antoni Serbeński, and “Ignacy Moś for His City”. The museum’s themes therefore differ from the church and monastery history presented at the Sisters of Nazareth Museum.

The Amber Cycling Route starts in Syców and runs via the Ostrzeszów Hills, Kobyla Góra, Ostrzeszów, Mikstat, Ołobok, Kalisz, Russów, Stare Miasto, Konin and Ślesin to Przewóz. It runs mostly on paved roads with little traffic; some sections follow unpaved roads, farm tracks or forest paths. There are no major technical difficulties. The route description says it is suitable regardless of bicycle type or fitness level.

A shorter designated option is the black-marked “W Dolinę Baryczy” connecting trail: it runs from Ostrzeszów via Rojów to Szklarka Myślniewska and is 11 km long. The red-marked “Szlak Przyrodniczy” nature trail is 21 km long. It starts at OSiR in Ostrzeszów, passes through the Jodły Ostrzeszowskie nature reserve, Pieczyska, Godziętowy, Tokarzew and Królewskie, and returns to OSiR. The stated lengths and routes help you distinguish between a shorter cycling option and a longer nature route.

Bałczyna is also located in the Gmina Ostrzeszów. The site is 278 m high and offers panoramic views of the Ostrzeszów area. The municipality has equestrian centres with an 18 km forest riding route.

The supervised bathing area has a sandy beach and a pool measuring 60 × 110 metres. Facilities also include a diving platform and a 50-metre water slide; lifeguards from WOPR supervise the bathing area. The Oceanik indoor swimming pool at the KąpieLOVA Sports and Recreation Centre has a stainless-steel leisure pool with air and water features, as well as a children’s pool. This gives you the choice between a supervised outdoor bathing area and an indoor pool during your stay.
