Bańska Niżna: Hotels and Accommodation
A geothermal bathing complex was developed in Bańska Niżna in 2008. It is supplied with water from a local borehole and covers 970 square metres. In addition, the town is connected to the geothermal resource of Podhale, which is used locally for heating and recreation.
Nature
The protected natural monuments of Bańska Niżna include an old linden tree and a white poplar next to the buildings of Wojciech Zapotoczny. Mount Gronkow is located near Bańska Niżna. The surrounding area includes Łysa Góra and Litwinowska Góra, as well as the Cupryna peak.
Culture and History
The wayside chapel “Pod lipą” dates from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries and contains figures of the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph. It stands near the Pope’s Road at the border with Szaflary.
The history of the town also includes the old forge “Po bukiem”, which probably dates from the late 18th century. It contains tools; visitors can ask the owners to open the forge. An iron cross from the 19th century stands nearby.
The wider regional surroundings of Bańska Niżna include the Niedzica (Dunajec) - Zamek and Niedzica - Zamek XIIIw. castles. The historic Votrubova Chata site and the Červený Kláštor monastery are also located in this wider regional area.
