Radomsko: Trails, Landscape and Culture

Fajna Ryba is in the municipality of Przedbórz and, at 347 metres above sea level, is the highest natural elevation in Radomszczański County and Łódź Voivodeship. The 39-kilometre Yellow Royal Hunting Trail runs from Przedbórz to Krasocin via the highest elevations of Przedbórz Landscape Park. A kayaking route of about 25 kilometres in the county passes through Przedbórz, among other places.

The Yellow Trail runs from Przedbórz via Jabłonna, Brzostek, Góra Czerwony Kamień, Góra Fajna Ryba, Góra Kozłowa, Dojo Stara Wieś, Żeleźnica and Oleszno to Krasocin. Its length and named intermediate places give an overview of its regional route; its course over the highest elevations of the landscape park is a particularly defining feature.

A different route is described for the Red Trail: it starts at Majowa Góra, continues through Przedbórz, the town park and the old town to Wierzchlas, and then passes through Piskorzeniec Nature Reserve. It then runs via Góra Krzemycza, Murawy Dobromierskie Nature Reserve, Borowa, Góry Mokre, Góry Suche–Fajna Ryba and Góra Kozłowa. The towns and nature reserves mark the route’s different sections.

The Blue Trail starts at the PKS bus stop in Góry Mokre, by the Chapel of St Florian. It runs via Przełęcz Mokrą, Góra Kozłowa, Stara Wieś, Kajetanów, Żeleźnica, Oleszno Nature Reserve, Dąbrówki, Wola Świdzińska, Kozia Góra, Komorniki and Kluczewsko. It is known as the Royal Hunting Trail of Casimir the Great. The Black Trail in Radomszczański County runs from the former ZHP station in Mrowina via Dobromierz; the station is no longer in operation.

If you are considering different ways of getting around, the Pilica Valley Trail in the county offers opportunities for walking, cycling, horse riding and cross-country skiing. The kayaking route, about 25 kilometres long, passes through Maluszyn, Ciemiętniki, Bobrowniki, Krzętów, Biały Brzeg and Przedbórz. Another point of interest for nature enthusiasts is the educational and ecological trail in Gidle Forest District: it starts near the Żytno forester’s lodge and passes through areas of scenic and natural interest.

Przedbórz Landscape Park extends across parts of Radomszczański, Włoszczowski, Konecki and Kielecki counties. Within Radomszczański County, it includes the municipalities of Przedbórz, Wielgomłyny, Masłowice and Żytno. It primarily protects areas close to nature in the Pilica Valley and its tributaries, extensive forest and pine forest complexes, and Jurassic and Cretaceous hills. Fajna Ryba is a distinctive landmark in this hilly landscape; it is also located in the municipality of Przedbórz.

Przedbórz Town Hall was built between 1838 and 1840 in the Neoclassical style. The Folk Museum displays a 19th-century-style peasant room with a chimney, a hearth with a stove bench and a working loom. Old tools and furniture from the Przedbórz area complete the interior. Another exhibition recalls crafts such as saddle-making, shoemaking, timber construction, wickerwork, sieve-making and pottery.

Water activities are also available at specific locations: at the supervised bathing areas in Zakrzówek Szlachecki and Przedbórz, you can swim and rent pedal boats or kayaks.
