Culture and History

The town hall is Woźniki’s architectural landmark. It was built in 1862 as a two-storey neoclassical building with a gabled roof.

The parish of St Catherine’s Church in Woźniki has existed since the 13th century; the church is mentioned in 1347 and 1490. The present masonry Church of St Catherine was built in 1607–1608 on the site of an earlier wooden church. It features a Gothic-Renaissance form; later alterations have changed its stylistic characteristics. The building is constructed of limestone rubble supplemented with brick.

The cemetery church of St Valentine is the oldest sacred building in the Woźniki municipality and forms part of the Silesian Wooden Architecture Route. The Monument to the Battle of Woźniki commemorates the fighting of 2 September 1939; annual patriotic commemorations are held at this monument.

The medieval, cone-shaped Grodzisko is identified with the original settlement from which Woźniki developed. Grodzisko is listed as an archaeological site in the register of monuments; metal objects found there are kept at the Upper Silesian Museum in Bytom. The urban layout of Woźniki is also listed as a protected monument in the register of monuments.

Woźniki has a market square. The Chapel of St John of Nepomuk stands next to St Catherine’s Church in Woźniki’s market square.

Coglowa Góra rises east of Woźniki’s town centre to 359 m above sea level. Woźniki is located near the extensive Lubliniec Forests.
