Bełk: Hotels and accommodation

Bełk is home to the wooden Church of Saint Mary Magdalene, which was built in the 18th century on the site of an earlier wooden church and still stands today. Its characteristic features are the onion-shaped cupolas on the main tower and the wooden bell turret. From Road 925 between Orzesze and Rybnik, turn right to reach it. You can book a hotel in Bełk. Culture and history

The wooden church is described as being more than 250 years old; old trees and a group of 19th-century graves surround it.

Bełk is documented in the Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis under the form “aput Belconem”. The settlement was probably founded under German law at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries.

East of Bełk, a copper forge was built on the Bierawka. There, copper was rolled into sheets, drawn into wire, and processed into tools and vessels; some of the production was exported. The facility ceased operations around 1860.

Palowice -Dworek is located in the immediate vicinity of Bełk, while Chudow -Zamek z XVI w. is in the surrounding area. The wider regional surroundings of Bełk include Noma Residence - Zameczek mysliwski and Zwonowice - Dworek mysliwski, as well as Chorzów - Śląski Ogród Zoologiczny, Halda Szarlota [Rydułtowy], (Borek [Petrovice u Karviné]) and Dembina [Dolní Lutyně-Věřňowice].

In the churchyard, an iron, stock-like historical object known as the Kuna has been preserved. It was formerly used as a punishment device to restrain people for minor offences or as penance.
