Połomia

Połomia is home to an old presbytery under heritage protection, a historic school and a brick chapel. There is also a small-leaved lime registered as a natural monument, an indoor swimming pool and cycling routes of different lengths and layouts.

The old presbytery on Centralna Street is under legal protection and is listed in the voivodeship heritage register under number 741/66. Construction began on 24 April 1811. The old school building was built in 1878 as the village’s first brick school. On the second floor, a conference room retains its original half-timbered masonry.

The brick Chapel of Saint John on Szkolna Street dates from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. The cemetery near the historic presbytery also features a group of sculptures: a Cross of the Passion of Christ from 1853, a statue of a saint from 1876, and statues of the Virgin Mary with the Child from 1878. Each date places these individual elements in its own historical context.

A natural monument is also part of the village landscape: a small-leaved lime (Tilia cordata) over 100 years old grows in the cemetery in Połomia. Its trunk circumference is 680 centimetres, and it is registered as a natural monument. Visitors interested in historic buildings, religious art or old trees will find a range of ways to explore the area.

The indoor swimming pool in Połomia has a small children’s pool, a full-size pool and two saunas. It operates seven days a week. Aqua aerobics and swimming lessons add to the facilities. The pool therefore offers spaces for different swimming needs as well as classes and saunas.

UMKS Delfin regularly holds swimming and running competitions in Połomia. These events are another aspect of local sporting life.

The black cycling route is 18.5 kilometres long and runs from Mszana through Połomia to Gogołowa. It is suitable for all types of bicycles. The red cycling route in the municipality of Mszana is 24 kilometres long and also passes through Połomia. It is longer than the black route, and its described course is different too.
