The former wooden Church of Saint Michael the Archangel in Łękawica burned down on October 26, 1992. The replacement church built near the former site was consecrated in 1997 and continues to bear the patronage of Saint Michael the Archangel and Saints Peter and Paul.

The former wooden church had been built in 1547 in the Silesian-Lesser Poland style; the fire of 1992 destroyed it along with its polychrome decoration.

A grotto with a statue of Our Lady of the Rosary remains as a surviving trace of the former church site.
