Gryfino at a glance
Historic buildings include the Late Romanesque-Gothic parish church Kościół p.w. Narodzenia Najświętszej Maryi Panny and the town gate Brama Bańska. Two hiking trails cross the municipality: the red Nadodrzański hiking trail and the green Woja Żelisława trail. Aquapark Laguna adds a leisure and wellness area to the range of activities.
Which historic sites and cultural activities are there?
Construction of the parish church Kościół p.w. Narodzenia Najświętszej Maryi Panny began in 1278. The church hosts choir concerts and the regularly held Gryfińskie Koncerty Organowe. The organs built by Barnim Grüneberg have 30 stops, two manuals and a pedal. This gives you a clear cultural focus for planning your trip: you can explore the history of the church building alongside its musical events.
Brama Bańska is the only one of Gryfino’s three town gates to have survived; it was built in the 14th century. The best-preserved section of the Mury obronne is about 70 meters long and 4 meters high. The Lapidarium in the municipal cemetery offers further insights into local history: it displays tombstones from a former German cemetery and other cemeteries in the municipality. Pałacyk pod Lwami is a villa dating from the late 19th century. Two stone lions stand at the entrance.
Which routes are suitable for planning your outings?
If you want to compare hiking trails by distance, there are two sections of different lengths within the municipality. The red Nadodrzański hiking trail runs for 31.45 kilometers within the municipality and passes through Stare Brynki, Gryfino, Dolna Odra and Nowe Czarnowo. The green Woja-Żelisława hiking trail runs for 21.52 kilometers and passes through Żelisławiec, Wełtyń and Gryfino. The distances given refer to the sections within the municipality; the places along the routes can help you choose.
Cyclists will also find specific starting points: the Blue Velo No. 3 cycle route begins a few dozen meters from the Centrum Informacji Turystycznej in Gryfino and continues south through the town toward Trzcińsko-Zdrój. A cycle path runs along the entire length of the Nabrzeże Miejskie waterfront. Nabrzeże Miejskie is a recreation and tourism area on the right bank of the Oder Wschodnia and is connected to the harbors and marinas of the Zachodniopomorski Szlak Żeglarski. This route connects the tourist harbors of West Pomerania along the Oder, the Szczecin Lagoon and the Baltic coast with German waterways.
Where can you find green spaces and viewpoints?
Park Miejski im. Stanisławy Siarkiewicz is a 6.02-hectare city park in the center of Gryfino. Górka Miłości offers a different view of the town and Międzyodrze. Its revitalized network of paths includes a viewpoint, benches and other recreational facilities. The park and viewpoint thus offer different ways to include green spaces and scenic views in your trip plans.
