Brăileni is associated with an annual tradition: “Focul lui Sumedru” is an annual tradition held on the feast day of Sfântul Dumitru and involving a gathering at the entrance to Islaz Aninoasa in the village of Brăileni.

Culture and History

The settlement now known as Brăileni was formerly called Aninoasa and Brăileni–Aninoasa. Aninoasa, the former name of Brăileni, is first documented in a record from 1624. The name Brăileni is attributed to two settlers who moved there from Brăila. Around 1900, Brăileni had approximately 32 families.

Leisure and Events

The picnic and leisure area in the Aninoasa area of Brăileni was completed in 2024. The Brăileni picnic area has grills and wooden pavilions. It was developed by Primăria Bascov as part of a participatory budgeting project.
