A good place to start exploring Cristian is the bell tower of the fortified church. Visitors can view it and enjoy a view of the town from a height of around 63 metres. Admission to Cristian’s fortified church is free; visits are possible by prior telephone appointment.
Culture and History
The fortified church has a double defensive wall and eight well-preserved defensive towers. Its layout therefore represents not only a single viewing point, but also clearly recognisable defensive architecture. In Cristian, the Schitul Sfântul Efrem cel Nou was also established as a place of prayer, silence and welcoming worshippers.
Another cultural setting is provided by the Cartfest events. They take place at Cristian’s main venues: the „Sala Mare“, the „Biserica Evanghelică“, the „Școală“, the „Piațeta centrală“ and the „Dealul Bisericuței“. The eighth edition of Cartfest took place in Cristian from 10 to 15 September.
Nature and Trails
The Cristian–Drumul lui Lexen–Poiana Brașov route connects Cristian with Poiana Brașov via the Drumul lui Lexen trail and a paved road. The route therefore combines two different types of paths within a connection between the two places. For planning purposes, such route sections can be considered separately from the cultural sights.
The nature attractions include Cristian’s reserve of venerable oak trees. It can be reached from the path along the edge of the forest. The forest edge and the oak reserve thus form a separate point of interest alongside the church, event venues and town park.
Parcul Sonia
Parcul Sonia has well-equipped playgrounds for children as well as recreational areas for adults. It also features walking paths, benches and carefully landscaped green spaces. The park is also a meeting place for the local community, where various events and activities take place. Culture, nature and public recreation areas can therefore be compared as different focal points when planning the day, without combining them into a single activity.
Visitor Information
The Cristian Tourist Information Centre is located at Strada Lungă No. 96. To make a clear initial selection in Cristian, you can compare travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions side by side when choosing a hotel. The three fields distinguish the time frame, the type of room booked and the rules for a possible change.
The different focal points can be considered separately when planning the day: the church and the Schitul belong to culture, history and prayer; Cartfest belongs to the event venues; and the route and oak reserve belong to nature and trails. Parcul Sonia complements this selection with playgrounds, walking paths, benches, green spaces and recreational areas for adults. This places different features of the town side by side; they do not need to be combined into a single itinerary in the town when making personal plans.
Other Places
Other places include Pârâul Rece, Tohanu Nou, Moieciu De Jos, Recea, Drumul Carului, Predeal, Racoș and Poiana Mărului.
