The historic landmark of Drumul Carului is the Roman fort “Castellum de epocă romană de la Drumul Carului - La Cetate”. It is located in Drumul Carului at La Cetate (Grădişte), on a high plateau at an altitude of 1,095 metres near European route E 574. This gives the place name a clearly defined historical and geographical reference.
History
Another historical site is the prehistoric fortification “Fortificaţia preistorică de la Drumul Carului - La Cetăţuie”, which is classified as a defensive system. Together with the Roman fort, this places two different historical sites at the centre: a fortification dating from prehistoric times and a Roman fort site.
Nature
La Chisatoare Waterfall is located in the vicinity of Drumul Carului. The nearby peaks of Pesterei, Cremenele and Coarbei are also in the same surrounding area.
These natural attractions differ significantly in their form: La Chisatoare is a single waterfall, while Pesterei, Cremenele and Coarbei are named peaks that form distinct landscape features. For day planning, these four destinations can therefore be treated as separate nature themes without combining them into a single excursion destination.
Culture
The church Biserica Poiana Mărului is located in the surroundings of Drumul Carului. In the wider regional area around Drumul Carului are the Mânăstire Predeal monastery, the Biserica Paltin church and the Biserica Şinca Nouă church.
The cultural landmarks are thus spread across different spatial levels. Biserica Poiana Mărului belongs to the surroundings of Drumul Carului, while Mânăstire Predeal, Biserica Paltin and Biserica Şinca Nouă are located in the wider regional area. This classification keeps the individual destinations and their respective connections to the place distinct.
Cycling
A bicycle rental service operated by FUNsy Bike is available at the Cetatea Carului guesthouse in Drumul Carului. From Drumul Carului, FUNsy Bike offers the Sirnea–Ciocanu cycling tour.
This provides two specific cycling options to choose between: the bicycle rental service at the Cetatea Carului guesthouse and the Sirnea–Ciocanu cycling tour offered from Drumul Carului. History, landscapes, culture and cycling thus open up differently focused themes for exploring the place.

Experiences
A cultural centre in Drumul Carului enabled visitors to see and learn about authentic Romanian customs. The cultural centre offered workshops in stained glass, egg decoration, wood carving, spinning and weaving. It also offered mountain hikes as a group activity.
The range of experiences mentioned therefore extends from traditional customs and crafts workshops to mountain hikes. The workshops cover stained glass, egg decoration, wood carving, spinning and weaving as distinct activities.
