Lueta Commune: Hotels and Accommodation

Culture

In the center of the village of Lueta stands the Adormirea Maicii Domnului parish church. The renovated church and the surrounding wall are considered a significant architectural heritage site of the Lueta settlement. The church's patronal feast is celebrated on September 8, the Feast of the Assumption of Mary.

The Lueta Museum Collection focuses on ethnography, local history, and mineralogy. It preserves tools and objects used by the owner's parents and grandparents, and displays regional mineral resources such as iron ore, salt, and charcoal. The Lueta Folk House also presents a permanent exhibition featuring photographs by photographic artist Ádám Gyula of Lueta's architecture.

The Casa muzeală din Lueta is a stone house in the center of the village with two rooms that reflect the appearance of a traditional Szekler room. It displays locally painted furniture and various textiles that reflect the atmosphere of a traditional shooting hall.

The Lueta Salt House was built above the salt spring in 1866. The protected historic building supplied Lueta and the surrounding villages with salt. The Lueta salt spring forms where a large salt layer connected to the Praid salt field meets an underground water source; the brine is highly concentrated.

Since 1976, the Daffodils Festival has been held every year in May near Daffodils Glade.

Nature

The Dumbrava-Harghitei Mire lies west of Miercurea Ciuc, south of the DN13A, and northeast of Băile Chirui near the Festő Spring; it is easily accessible by a paved road. The mire covers 2 hectares and has been on the list of botanical protected areas since 1980. Its cool and humid microclimate preserves relict plant communities from the Ice Age. Saxifraga hirculus, Paludella squarrosa, and Drosera rotundifolia grow in the Dumbrava-Harghitei Mire.

In the wider surroundings of Lueta lies the Vargyas Gorge, a 4-kilometer-long gorge through which the Vârghiș flows through Jurassic limestone. Orbán-Balázs Cave is one of the well-known caves in the Vargyas Gorge.

Near Băile Chirui there are three highly mineralized, carbonated mineral water springs with a mineral content of 2 to 4 g/l. The Festő mineral water spring lies at the confluence of the Tolvajos and Köves streams. A dye mill from the late 19th century located near the Festő Spring at Băile Chirui gave the spring its name, Festő, Hungarian for “painter.”

Bodies of Water and Springs

The Lueta fishing lake is located 7 km south of Lueta from Vlăhița and another 1 km toward Merești, directly on the DJ 132 road. Carp, crucian carp, white bream, and bleak are listed for the lake; predatory fish are not listed there. The Lueta fishing lake has fishing jetties and parking spaces for cars.

Routes

The CG route from Lueta is accessible year-round and suitable for cycling tourism. It begins south of the village of Lueta, climbs steeply to a plateau, and there offers a beautiful view of the Homorodul Mic valley and the Homorod Hills.

Piatra Colibei on the CA route offers a view of the surrounding landscape. A mountain bike or car is recommended for the CA route between Piatra Colibei and Băile Chirui; it is considered easy and accessible year-round.
