Culture
The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Andrew in Lunca de Sus dates from 1902. Marble plaques in the parish church of Saint Andrew name the builders of the church and the donor of the main altar. The church was extended in 1977 and renovated and beautified inside and out in 1978.
The 18-register organ of the parish church of Saint Andrew has been completely restored. On the feast day of Saint Andrew the Apostle, the church festival of the church in Gyimesfelsőlok was celebrated. The parish of Saint Andrew in Gyimesfelsőlok became an independent parish on 8 July 1907.
The traditional Csángó house in the open-air ethnographic museum of Lunca de Sus reflects the way of life in the Ghimeș Valley. Visitors to the ethnographic museum can view traditional furniture, rare items of clothing and household objects; they can also try weaving and spinning. The Csángó ethnographic house in Păltiniș-Ciuc displays tools used for processing milk.
Bagolyvár is a historic rocky site in the Görbepataka district of Gyimesfelsőlok. A Hungarian army fortification from the Second World War once stood at Bagolyvár. From there, a crawl tunnel led several hundred metres towards the village.
Nature
The Munții Ciucului Natura 2000 site protects 14 species covered by nature conservation directives.
Sport
The SKIGYIMES ski slopes are located at an altitude of 1,060 metres and have an elevation difference of 160 metres. Lunca de Sus Commune is also home to the Lunca de Sus alpine coaster. It offers an adrenaline-fuelled sledding experience.
Hiking and Pilgrimage
The Bagolyvár–Saint Benedict Chapel route is rated easy, covers 8 kilometres, takes approximately 5 to 6 hours and has an elevation difference of plus or minus 40 metres. The hike to Saint Benedict Chapel via Bagolyvár is recommended as suitable for families with children and grandparents.
Saint Benedict Chapel in Görbepataka is a local pilgrimage site for fulfilling vows and lies on the route between Bagolyvár and the chapel. The Chapel of the Holy Spirit on Muntele Frumos is one of two religious buildings on the mountain ridge between Ciuc and Ghimeș that were erected in honour of the king who protected the border; annual pilgrimages are held there in his memory. Saint Ladislaus Chapel on Muntele Mic al Păgânului is associated with annual pilgrimages held in the Ghimeș region.
Geographical Location
The Miercurea-Ciuc–Comănești railway line emerges from a tunnel in the area of the Görbe stream, crosses a viaduct, passes the Church of Saint Andrew and reaches the station on the main road.
