Mittelstadt

The Traseul Minier Principal leads to the 730 m-high summit of Dealul Minei; from there, you can enjoy a panorama of the surrounding area. Another route, the Puțul Francisc și Borcut, leads to the ruins of Puțul Francisc.

The two routes can be considered side by side according to their respective destinations; the elevation information for one and the reference to the ruins for the other provide different points of comparison for planning your day.

Mountain Landscapes and Lakes

Lacul Albastru lies on the southern slope of Dealul Minei at an elevation of 530 m and is a national protected area within the administrative territory of the city of Baia Sprie.

Lacul Albastru formed between 1919 and 1920 through the accumulation of water following the collapse of a mine or surface works. The lake changes colour depending on the season: in spring, especially in April and May, it appears blue and turquoise; in summer, emerald green; and in autumn, greenish-brown.

Lacul Bodi lies at an elevation of 731 m at the foot of Vârful Mogoșa, which is also called Muntele Negru.

Vârful Igniș reaches 1,307 m and lies on a volcanic plateau with distinctive rock formations as well as blueberry and cranberry bushes.

The Piciorul Herjei mountain is located in the immediate vicinity of Baia Sprie. The peaks Dealul SomeÅŸ and Dealul Florilor are located in the area around Baia Sprie.

The elevations, seasonal changes in colour and different landscape forms can be used as factual points of comparison for your planning. You can set your own priorities and consider natural features side by side according to elevation, appearance or regional context.

When comparing a hotel in Mittelstadt, you can review travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions side by side. This information helps you compare different options transparently and keep the financial framework of your trip in view before making a selection.

Culture and History

The Biserica romano-catolică Sf. Maria displays two miners’ banners from 1886 and 1889, as well as the banner of the potters’ guild from 1852.

Baia Sprie has a long-standing pottery tradition; Daniel Leș is considered the city’s last potter.

The cultural sites can be organised by theme and compared separately; no fixed order is prescribed for this.

The Muzeul Judeţean de Artă Maramureş Baia Mare, the Muzeul Satului Baia Mare and the Muzeul de Etnografie şi Artă Populară Baia Mare are located in the area around Baia Sprie. The Gradina Zoologică Baia Mare and the Monumentul Ostaşului Român Baia Mare are also located nearby.

There are four functioning Vâltori in Chiuzbaia. They are used for washing and are also local tourist attractions.
