Kemény Castle has a square layout with an inner courtyard and corner towers, two of which are larger and two smaller. The present-day Reformed Church dates from 1727 and was built by the Kemény family. Art historians regard it as one of the finest examples of the Rococo style in Transylvanian church architecture. The towerless Reformed Church is located near the fortified castle.
The Roman fort of Brâncovenești stood on the eastern Roman frontier of Dacia, on a terrace above the Mureș, and controlled the route from the province into the eastern Barbaricum. A Dacian coin made of silver-plated copper was found at the archaeological site of Săcalu de Pădure.
Local cultural history is also associated with individual names and traditions: Rafila Moldovan first performed in 1963, at the age of 24, at the cultural center of Idicel Pădure. She sang doine, ballads, and pricesne that she had heard and collected from older villagers.
