Archaeology and History
The Oglinzi-Băi archaeological site includes an Early Neolithic settlement of the Starčevo-Criș culture. Oglinzi-Cetățuia is a fortified settlement from the Neolithic and Eneolithic periods and is located near a salt spring.
Oglinzi-Lăzăreni is a Cucuteni settlement on the right bank of the Brustura stream; the site lies where the Babete stream flows into the Brustura stream, on gently westward-sloping terrain with a freshwater spring. Oglinzi-Fața Slatinei is a Bronze Age settlement.
Culture and Churches
The Sfântul Nicolae Church in Răucești de Sus was consecrated in 1893. The present-day Nașterea Maicii Domnului Church in Săvești was consecrated in 1922. Construction of the Adormirea Maicii Domnului Church in Răucești de Jos began in 1865 on the initiative of Mihail Kogălniceanu.
The present-day church in the village of Oglinzi was built between 1925 and 1933 and preserves a bell cast in Blaj. A sound recording is titled “Capra bătrână din Răucești – Neamț.” The New Year’s group Capra Bătrână from Oglinzi performed on stages in Iași, Suceava, and Piatra Neamț.
