Corabia on the Danube
Corabia is located on the left bank of the Danube between river kilometres 628 and 636. The Danube area shapes the opportunities for excursions and leisure activities: organised boat trips take visitors onto the water, while the riverbank, floodplains and islands form different landscapes. National roads DN54 and DN54A pass through Corabia. DN54 connects the city with Caracal, while DN54A connects it with Turnu Măgurele. The two connections lead in different directions: Caracal is linked via DN54, and Turnu Măgurele via DN54A.

History and Culture
The Roman fortress of Sucidava is located in Celeiu. Its late antique fortification walls feature eight towers. The Danube port “Portul Corabia” is more than 130 years old. In the centre of Corabia stands the Monumentul Independenței, also known as Monumentul “Trecerii Dunării”. It is a registered historical monument. The fortress, port and monument represent different historical points of reference: Roman fortification architecture, more than 130 years of port history and a registered monument in the city centre.
The cultural surroundings also include the Muzeul de Arheologie şi Etnografie Corabia and the Muzeul Popa Şapcă Corabia. Both institutions are museums in the vicinity of Corabia. The Monumentul Eroilor Daşoveni Corabia is a monument nearby. Ruinele Bazilicii Romane Cetatea Sucidava Corabia is a historical site in the vicinity.
