Arboretumul Bazoș covers 62 hectares and contains 776 taxa of woody plants in collections from North America and Asia. With 19 species, it has Romania’s largest oak collection. It lies at the transition between the floodplains of the Bega and Timiș in a flat, alluvial plain.
The first landscaping work at Arboretumul Bazoș was carried out from 1909 to 1914 on the initiative of the then owner, Count Ludovic Ambrosie. The landscape feature Moşniţa, classified as a hill, is located in the immediate vicinity of Comuna Bucovăţ. In the wider regional surroundings of Comuna Bucovăţ are the Fântâna lui Goga spring and the landscape features Dealul Flămând and Piatra Roşie, both classified as hills.
Geographical Location
The distance between Bucovăț and Bazoșu Nou is 3.6 kilometers along DJ 609F. Eco Timiș’s 20-kilometer-long cycling route 4 passes through Bucovăț to Bazoșu Nou Dendrological Park.
Access to Arboretumul Bazoș is provided by Remetea Mare railway station, 6 kilometers away, as well as by National Road 6 and the Remetea Mare–Bucovăț–Bazoșu Nou county road.
