Banja – Thermal Water, Nature Trails and Monastery Complex

Pribojska Banja is located on a high river terrace a few kilometres above the town. The resort lies in the picturesque valley of the Lim River between the local mountains of Lisja Stena and Ljeskovac. Pribojska Banja also offers views over the Lim Valley.

One specific short route is the health trail. It was created in 2024, is approximately 1,500 metres long and leads through a mixed forest of coniferous and deciduous trees. The trail includes gentle ascents and descents. LED lighting is part of the facilities; the health trail is also regularly used by tourists.

For a longer hike, the Banja–Banjsko brdo–Pjevčevo vrelo–Banja route is available. It is well maintained and marked. Its destination is the viewpoint on Banjsko brdo. From the summit, there is a panoramic view in all 360 degrees.

The health trail and this marked route therefore differ significantly: the first trail remains manageable at approximately 1,500 metres, while the second route includes a viewpoint on Banjsko brdo. Which option you choose therefore depends primarily on whether you are looking for a short path through mixed forest or a route with summit views.

The “Stara Banja” pool is located above the main spring. Above the second spring are three pools known as “Nova Banja”. Together with the covered thermal water pools, the thermal water spa pool and the outdoor thermal water pool, these facilities shape the health and thermal area of Pribojska Banja.

Pribojska Banja can be reached via the Belgrade–Bar railway line or the Belgrade–Podgorica main road. Access is via a turn-off near Kokin Brod. For your journey, you can therefore choose between a rail connection and the road route, with the most suitable option depending on your starting point.

The Monastery of Saint Nicholas in Banja was built in the second half of the 12th century. Saint Sava founded one of the first six bishoprics of the autocephalous Serbian Church at the monastery. The last restoration of the monastery was completed in 1905.

The monastery complex adds a historical focus to your stay that differs from the thermal areas and landscape routes. To compare other destinations, you can also visit Šljivovica, Nikojevići, Kaludjerske Bare, Mačkat, Bajina Bašta, Draglica and Rastište.
