Stari Begej–Carska bara and Slano Kopovo

The Stari Begej–Carska bara Special Nature Reserve covers approximately 1,600 hectares and is located about two kilometres from the Zrenjanin–Belgrade highway. In the Stari Begej–Carska bara Special Nature Reserve, boats are rented for exploring the lagoon and its picturesque banks. More than 200 bird species have been recorded in Carska bara, including rare herons, cormorants, grebes and ducks, as well as endangered species.

More than 200 different bird species have been recorded in Slano Kopovo. Slano Kopovo is also an important stopover for the migration of several hundred thousand waterbirds from various parts of Europe and western Siberia.

Banja Rusanda and the lakes

Banja Rusanda has almost a century and a half of tradition in treatments using healing mud from Lake Rusanda. Banja Rusanda is an active spa and, as a specialist hospital for physical medicine and rehabilitation, offers various wellness packages. The entire Banja Rusanda spa complex is situated in a pine and linden forest crossed by walking and recreational paths.

The Great Lake of the Čenćanska Lakes offers opportunities for swimming and fishing. Zrenjanin also has a lakeside promenade along the city lakes. The city lakes of Zrenjanin were created by damming an abandoned course of the Begej River.

Zrenjanin: Cityscape and museums

The historic centre of Zrenjanin includes attractive buildings, most of which were constructed in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Zrenjanin National Museum covers the heritage of Central Banat through its collections and preserves more than 49,000 objects. The Zrenjanin National Museum presents the cultural heritage of Banat in permanent exhibitions and three exhibition rooms.

Ečka, Belo Blato and special collections

KaŔtel Ečka is an English-style manor house built in 1820. The Serbian Orthodox Church of Saint Nicholas in Ečka was built in 1711, has a shingle roof and is considered the oldest surviving church in Banat. The Roman Catholic church in Ečka was founded by the Lazar family in 1884 and decorated with works by Flemish masters.

The Ethno Centre in Belo Blato includes an ethnographic house with a courtyard, a classroom and a souvenir shop. Belo Blato is developing into an important destination for rural and ethno-tourism due to its distinctive features, natural surroundings and ethnological heritage. The Gospojina Ethno Bazaar offers handicrafts and Ŕtrudels. The collection of the Žeravica Museum includes more than 150 tractors.
