Kozarišče – Snežnik Castle and Cultural Heritage Route
The Snežnik Castle complex is a cultural monument of national importance.
Culture
Snežnik Castle preserves original furniture and other household objects from the second half of the 19th century. Visits take place exclusively with a castle guide. Since 1980, the Edible Dormouse Museum and the hunting collection have been displayed in the castle's outbuilding. The museum presents the development and tradition of edible dormouse hunting as a local ethnological heritage. The hunting collection complements this focus with trophies of native wildlife species. In this way, historic domestic culture, regional traditions and the presentation of local wildlife are brought together in a shared cultural context.
Trails
The Loška dolina Cultural Heritage Route can be explored independently along its marked trail or with a local tourist guide. Two routes are available for different time budgets: one 21 kilometres long and one 11 kilometres long. The route passes through Kozarišče and across fields to a viewpoint above Podgora. In addition, a marked trail leads to the summit of Snežnik, which is 1,796 metres high.
Nature
The Mali Obrh springs in Kozarišče at the edge of the Snežnik Forests. Kozarišče lies at the entrance to the extensive Snežnik Forests; brown bears, wolves and lynxes live in this area.
Tradition
Polharska noč is a traditional ethnological open-air event that introduces visitors to the old tradition of edible dormouse hunting. The event is opened by the annual race Tek po polhovih stopinjah. The combination of the race and the open-air event presents the local tradition not only in a collection but also in a recurring annual public setting.
Those comparing hotels in Kozarišče can review the displayed offers according to their own requirements. On each offer page, they can check the exact location, the type of accommodation and the possible occupancy. It is also advisable to look at the included services and the individual price components so that different options remain transparently comparable. Before booking, the applicable booking and cancellation conditions, as well as any possible time restrictions, can also be checked. When comparing offers, it is also worth paying attention to differing occupancy details and to the total price rather than just an individual amount. This keeps the verified conditions of the individual offers clearly separate. The comparison can also record whether the selected occupancy matches the travel dates and whether additional costs are listed separately from the base price. When offers differ, the full terms help users identify differences in prepayment, changes or possible free cancellation themselves. The spelling of the place name and the assignment of the offer should also remain clear on every page.
