Runarsko makes sacred history visible through a specific building. The Church of the Nativity of Mary was built after 1700 and is part of the architectural heritage. Its wooden main altar was made in 1870 by Anton Kušlan from Novo mesto. The church's history also includes the fact that it burned down after being struck by lightning in 1834 and was restored in 1870. The building history, furnishings and reconstruction can thus be read from the church itself.

Culture and history

Older traces in Runarsko are also associated with named places. The Tabor Archaeological Site in Runarsko is part of the archaeological heritage. A watchtower stood at Stari grad on Taboršče. A Roman defensive wall along the ancient road route between Velike Lašče and Runarsko formed part of the Roman defensive complex Claustra Alpium Iuliarum. A section of the wall approximately 300 metres long is visible on the road between Runarsko and Novi Pot; an information board stands beside it. Thus, the historic sites focus on an archaeological site, a former watchtower and a visible section of the Roman fortification.

Nature

Runarsko's water features are reflected in various information about springs and confluences. The Runarščica rises below Paslovec and flows into the Blatni potok at Ograde. The headwater streams of the Bloščica rise between Zakraj and Runarsko on an impermeable dolomite substrate. This records both a named stream with its source and mouth and headwater streams with a precisely identified geological substrate.

Routes and events

Several routes and events give Runarsko different ways to get around. The 37-kilometre circular route of the Magdalena-Gornik Pilgrimage Route can be completed by car, bicycle or on foot. A race starts at Bloško jezero and follows level paths through the Bloščica stream's fen towards Runarsko and back. In addition, the Konjeniško društvo Divji konji equestrian club in Runarsko 8 organises an annual horseback ride through Bloke and the surrounding area. The three formats described therefore differ in route, terrain, mode of transport and type of event.
