Nova Vas is a settlement situated along a road, with well-preserved buildings and an intact town layout. Large stone village wells, built at the end of the 19th century, stand at its center. The townscape thus brings together architectural continuity and visible evidence of the water supply system.

Water and Local History

The water supply for the village center of Nova Vas was provided from the Sušica spring through wooden pipes in 1863. The surroundings of the oldest surviving well in the center have been extensively renovated. Next to the well, a preserved water pipe made of pine wood is on display, directly linking the former technical solution with the historic townscape.

Paths and Movement

For cyclists, the 33-kilometer Bloška kolesarska pentlja begins and ends in Nova Vas. On foot, the Krpanova pot leads through the surrounding area as a 19-kilometer circular route; there is also a longer 23-kilometer variant. At the TIC Bloke in Nova Vas, hikers can obtain a leaflet with a map describing and marking the sights along the Krpanova pot.

At the annual Krpan Hiking Day, the marked route is suitable for all generations. The difficulty level and length can be chosen according to individual abilities. In addition to the designated circular route, this means there is also an annually recurring hiking event with requirements that can be selected at different levels.

Water and Winter

When water levels are high, the Bloščica flows past Nova Vas in an otherwise dry riverbed as far as Fara, where it disappears into numerous swallow holes. Lake Bloke attracts swimmers in summer and, in winter, when its surface freezes, ice skaters. There is an equipped children's playground on the shore.

At the parking area next to the Bloški smučar hall, access to the cross-country skiing area begins 100 meters away on foot. North of the parking areas at the hall, there is also an open-air theater with wooden stands for 200 visitors, suitable for cultural events and open-air concerts.

Culture and Municipal Holiday

Tek po Blokah is a recurring running event held as part of the municipal holiday. In one documented race, the start was next to the grass sports field in Nova Vas. Also held every year in September in Nova Vas as part of the municipal holiday is the Mihaelov Sejem. Local manufacturers and producers offer their goods and products there.

A permanent museum collection, »Bloški smučar«, has been established in the hall and the small hall. A monument to the victims of the Second World War is a work by E. Ravnikar from 1951. A commemorative plaque is located at the birthplace of B. Lavrič.
