The Stara Sava settlement, formerly Fužinarsko naselje Sava, has been designated a cultural monument of national importance due to its outstanding urban planning, technical, architectural and historical significance. Today, the area is used for museum, cultural and tourism activities.

Stara Sava preserves a completely intact core complex of buildings displaying most of the characteristics of an ironworks settlement from the late 17th century. During guided tours, visitors can experience the settlement; the tours are led by historical figures who once lived and worked there, including ironworks owner Viktor Ruard, his wife and Angela Boškin, the first Slovenian nurse.

The Kasarna is a late Baroque building from the late 18th century and is one of the oldest preserved examples of communal workers' housing in Slovenia.
