Soligorsk

Soligorsk. For Belarus this city located in the south of the Minsk region is considered to be one of the most important cities from an industrial point of view. Here is produced the main export product, potash fertilizers. In Soligorsk there is the largest Belarusian exporter, the association «Belaruskalij».

The name «Soligorsk» is not difficult to decipher, «The town of salt». It was founded due to the salt. In the early 50's of the 20th century near the city geologists have found deposits of potassium, one of the biggest in the world. Almost immediately began the construction of the complex for the production and processing of salt, which eventually formed the city. And the city started to develop around the complex. Today Soligorsk is a typical sample of « new-built cities», which had been built during 60-70s of the 20th century throughout the Soviet Union.

In Europe Soligorsk is practically unknown. Perhaps only football connoisseurs will recall that there is a football club from Soligorsk, «Shakhtyor», took part in tournaments like the UEFA Cup as a prize-winner of Belarusian Championship. However, the club wasn’t successful in the competitions.

Taking into the account the fact that Soligorsk was built from scratch, it can not boast of any collection of urban legends or history. Only what the city might be of interest to the tourists is that its mines, which after the end of the exploiting might be converted to an analog of the Museum in Polish Wieliczka. However, long time will pass before the realization of these plans. So, perhaps the most important type of tourism in Soligorsk is business trip.

Another promising type of tourism in Soligorsk is health tourism. So, the Republican speleological Hospital can be attractive to the tourists. This unique facility is founded on the basis of Soligorsk basin of potassium salts. The main specialization of the clinic is treatment of diseases of the respiratory tract. A special technique involves treatment at two levels: on the surface the patients go through various peripheral procedures and at a depth of 430 meters in the mine there is a direct healing of lungs with salubrious air. It should be noted that for such treatment there are age restrictions. Patients must be at least 15 year old and no older than 55 years. Also, the treatment must be booked in advance, as it is in high demand.

Holidays in Bulgaria: visa-free regime for Schengen owners
The Bulgarian government decided to simplify for many tourists the procedure of entering the country. From now on all people with a valid Schengen visa can go on holiday to Bulgaria without national visa. In such way Bulgaria is preparing its structures for the upcoming country’s entry into the visa-free regime, which today functions between the EU countries. The decision to introduce new visa rules was taken by the Bulgarian cabinet of ministers on Wednesday January 26, 2011. According to the Bulgarian cabinet, the new visa policy will spur the tourist interest and will make Bulgaria more attractive to foreign investors. Schengen visa owners will be able to get permission to enter Bulgaria and stay on its territory for a period of up to 3 months during the six months from the date of first entry. It should be noted that the new visa rules in Bulgaria will be useful not only for the EU citizens, but also tourists from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, who have a Schengen visa. New measures, inter alia, must stir up not only the tourism sector, but also resort property market in Bulgaria. Since the beginning of the financial crisis in 2008 leading Black Sea resorts in Bulgaria have marked decreasing of the square meter price. Opportunity to visit the country for Schengen owners will facilitate entry of potential buyers and will indirectly stimulate the demand for Bulgarian property. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, in 2011 its consulates issued in total 733 623 visas, which is by 18% more than in 2010.
