Russian Arctic is the territory beyond the Arctic Circle, where polar bears live, where the great ice-breakers break the ice of the coldest ocean in the world, and where wild tribes still graze reindeer herds in the tundra. Here in the Arctic, on the vast spaces of permafrost, you have an opportunity to see what is impossible to be found anywhere else in the world - the Northern Lights. The unique atmospheric phenomenon is caused by a collision of charged particles with each other, which are attracted by the Earth's magnetic field and cause the molecules and atoms of air to glow.
Arctic Russia (or Polar) is also a unique natural enclave. Here you can meet many species of animals, from tiny lemmings to the largest predator on the planet - a polar bear.
From the tourist’s point of view, the Arctic is attractive for its variety of tours and excursions: cruises on the Arctic icebreakers along the coast of the Barents and White seas, fishing in the open sea, the excursion to the colonies of birds living on the coastal rocks and small islands, eco-tourism and ethnographic tourism.
