Canton 10: Hotels and accommodations

In Livno, the Franciscan Museum and the Gorica Gallery were founded on October 2, 1995, to systematically collect, preserve, protect and present museum materials from the Canton of Herceg-Bosna.

The Gorica Museum’s permanent archaeological exhibition includes objects dating from the Copper Age to the Late Middle Ages.

Historical structures include the Most na Dumanu Bridge. It was built at the end of the 17th or beginning of the 18th century and is considered a symbol of Livno’s architectural heritage.

Veis-Kula is the largest and best-preserved of Livno’s historic defensive towers.

The Lala-pašina džamija, also known as Beglučka džamija, in Livno was built in 1577/1578 behind Livno’s old town, at Begluk. In 2004, it was placed under state protection and declared a national monument.

Titova Cave is also connected with the history of the region: at the beginning of 1944, it housed the Supreme Headquarters of the Yugoslav Partisan movement. The cave was restored in 2006 and reopened to visitors on May 25, 2006.

The archaeological site of Otinovci includes preserved and partially reconstructed building remains; it was established as an open-air archaeological park. In Tomislavgrad, the Duvanjska Basilica is considered the town’s most important attraction.

Living traditions include the traditional Kupres haymaking days, known as Strljanica. They were included in UNESCO’s protection of intangible cultural heritage on December 16, 2020.

Livanjski sir has a centuries-old production tradition connected with the region’s natural pastures, meadows and diverse vegetation.

The area around Bastašica features a marked path with benches, guardrails and a wooden bridge and forms a small eco-zone.

Bastašica springs from a source surrounded by high rock walls and forms several waterfalls near its source.

Klekovača has marked hiking trails to Mala Klekovača and Velika Klekovača, as well as a mountain hut.

The Lom rainforest, located near Klekovača, covers 298 hectares and has been legally protected since 1956.

The Canton of Herceg-Bosna and the municipality of Tomislavgrad encompass 103 square kilometers of Blidinje Nature Park.

Japage consists of five sinkholes covering an area of approximately one square kilometer; a lake lies within this area.

The largest Japage sinkhole has an elevation difference of 97 meters between its highest point and the bottom.

Japage can be reached via a side road branching off the Kupres–Šipovo main road and is located approximately twelve kilometers west of Kupres.

Lake Prekajsko is used for recreational tourism.

Lake Prekajsko covers two square kilometers and is stocked with carp and chub.

Lake Kukavičko is located eight kilometers from the center of Kupres. It is considered a popular excursion destination and is used as a swimming lake during the summer months.

Lake Kukavičko is a glacial lake in the far northeast of the extensive Kupres Field, at an elevation of 1,200 meters, and reaches a maximum depth of approximately 13 meters.

The Orlova stina Tomislavgrad mountaineering club maintains more than 170 kilometers of hiking trails around Tomislavgrad, ranging from demanding mountain trails to easy walking paths.

The Staza Gospi Sinjskoj trail leads from the Rama Šćit Franciscan Monastery via Tomislavgrad to Sinj and Solin.

The Pločata vrila spring can be reached via a hiking trail from Kupreška kuća, involving an easy ascent of up to one hour.

The Kruškovac launch site is used for paragliding and is located in the settlement of Podovi, four kilometers from the Drvar–Bosanski Petrovac main road.

The Adria Ski resort has four ski runs totaling more than 13 kilometers and is served by four ski lifts.
