Drvar: Tito's Cave, Bastašica and Hotels

The source of the Bastašica is located about five kilometres from Drvar in the village of Bastasi. It is surrounded by high, sheer rock faces and forms several waterfalls near its source. There is also a marked path in the area around the source, with benches, safety railings and a wooden bridge. The source, rock faces, waterfalls and the developed path thus stand together as independent elements of the same landscape.

Tito's Cave was reopened to visitors on 25 May 2006. Drvar is also home to the cultural landscape memorial complex, the “25. maj” Museum, which is listed as a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The national monument includes the main building of the “25. maj” Museum as well as Tito's Villa.

The area around Visuć Grad likewise combines various historical and landscape elements: visitors can see the gorge of the Visućica River, the medieval Visuć Grad fortress and a reconstructed medieval church. Visuć Grad is a medieval fortress in Šipovljani, within the territory of the Municipality of Drvar.

A distinct cultural aspect is evident at “Dan drvarske drenjine”. Visitors can observe the preparation of Drenja schnapps, sample specialties and buy authentic regional products. The 24th edition of the “Dan drvarske drenjine” event takes place at the “25. maj” Memorial Complex below Tito's Cave in Drvar.

Regional food traditions also include beaten Pekmez: in some families, its preparation has been passed down from generation to generation for more than 50 years. The time span and the transmission within individual families make this aspect an independent part of the local specialties.
