Derventa: Hotels, Culture and the Ukrina

The Derventa Cultural Center is located in the former Dom-JNA building in the city center. It hosts theater and film performances, exhibitions of paintings and photographs, literary evenings and book presentations, performances by folklore groups, and concerts. Derventa is associated with the phenomenon known as the “blossoming of the Ukrina,” which occurs at the end of August. On summer evenings and nights, swarms of aquatic insects appear over and along the waters.

The Derventa area offers good conditions for growing plums and grapevines. They are used to produce rakija and wine.

The recurring cycling event “Biciklom manastirima Ukrinske doline” takes place at the end of June or the beginning of July and has been held since 2012.
