Podrašnica: Hotels and Culture around Zelenkovac

The Zelenkovac excursion area encompasses a valley of the stream of the same name. The stream rises on the western slopes of Mount Lisina and flows through a pine forest. This landscape is one of the area's defining features. In April 2002, Zelenkovac was granted the status of an ecological zone.

On its route through western Bosnia, the Roman road Salona–Servitium passed through Podrašnica. Another historical trace is the memorial spring in the village: it was unveiled in honour of 16 Thessaloniki fighters and First World War volunteers from Podrašnica.

The history of Zelenkovac is closely connected with its watermills. Around fifteen watermills were built on the Zelenkovac stream several centuries ago. One of the watermills was converted into the artist Borislav Janković's studio in 1985. In this converted mill, Borislav Janković opened the “Zašto nije otišao Boro!?” art gallery.

The gallery houses an extensive collection of artworks, ethnographic objects and other cultural content. The complex also includes several wooden cottages, bungalows, mills, benches and wooden bridges built in Zelenkovac.

Above Podrašnica lies the Mramorje necropolis, with around 150 Stećak tombstones. It is located about 20 minutes from the road and offers an unobstructed view over Podrašničko polje. A smaller Stećak necropolis called “Malo mramorje”, with around 20 tombstones, is also associated with Podrašnica.

Events in Zelenkovac include a Go tournament. The Zelenkovac Jazz Festival has been running for a quarter of a century. Visitors to Zelenkovac are offered homemade food prepared over an open fire.
