Kamena: Hotels and accommodations
Kamena is one of the villages whose land areas lie within Belasitsa Nature Park; the park encompasses the northern slopes of the Belasitsa Mountains. Nature
Belasitsa Nature Park has a marked short route from Kamena to a waterfall, the chapel, and back to Kamena. The path to Kameshnishki Waterfall begins on the outskirts of Kamena. After about ten minutes, the path crosses the Kameshnitsa River via a wooden bridge. After approximately 30 to 40 minutes of walking, a shelter with a table and benches is reached; the path also rises gently along the right bank of the Kameshnitsa River.
Kameshnishki Waterfall is 21 metres high. A wooden bridge in front of the waterfall provides a better view of it. A municipal list of mountain routes also records an eight-hour round-trip route from Kamena to Kameshnishki Waterfalls.
Culture
A marked tourist route leads through the site of the Velikdenska Church. The foundations of an old church are visible at this location. In the surrounding area, traces of a settlement were found in Suhiya Dol (Koriendek), about 3 km north of Kamena, probably dating from the Late Neolithic. Remains of an ancient fortress were also found in Suhiya Dol and nearby Kadresh.
The church feast of Kamena takes place on 2 May, Borisovden. The village festival of Kamena is celebrated on 6 May, St George's Day.
Local character
Beekeepers in Kamena produce acacia and chestnut honey. In the 19th century, sesame oil and wine were produced in Kamena. Kamena has bus connections with Petrich and the neighbouring foothill villages.
