Culture and History

A local tradition connects the name Dzhigurovo with Haji Gyuro and traces its development through the forms Hadzhigyurovo and Adzhigyurovo. The old settlement is described as having two churches: St Nedelya and St Maria. In Ottoman tax registers from 1611–1617, Dzhigurovo is mentioned under the names Zigurova and Zhigurova.

The village school was built at night in 1911 after its construction had been prohibited. A village festival was scheduled to take place in Dzhigurovo in June 2024, organized by the Prosveshta 55 Chitalishte.

Location

A road above Dzhigurovo leads to the old church. Beneath the village's plane tree is a well described as a village attraction. The plane tree itself was among the ten finalists in Bulgaria's 2014 “Tree with Root” competition.
