Further remains of the cultural heritage around Osina include medieval settlements near Cherkvata and Yurushkoto, church foundations near Tsarkvata, and a preserved Roman bridge below Krivata Skala. Local tradition links Osina’s origins to shepherds who jointly produced butter, cheese, and kashkaval in dairies.

Osina is located in the southern part of the Dabrash section of the Western Rhodopes. The Osinska River flows west of the settlement, while a tributary is located to the east. The area around Osina is described as being predominantly forested with pine, spruce, fir, and birch trees. The local high point, Gorna Preseka, is approximately 1,200 metres high.
